MARCH KEY POINTS
TOTAL DWELLING UNITS
- The trend estimate for total dwellings approved rose 0.3% in March after falling for 15 months.
- The seasonally adjusted estimate for total dwellings approved rose 7.4% in March following a fall of 8.8% in the previous month.
PRIVATE SECTOR HOUSES
- The trend estimate for private sector houses approved was flat in March.
- The seasonally adjusted estimate for private sector houses rose 3.9% in March following a fall of 4.0% in the previous month.
PRIVATE SECTOR DWELLINGS EXCLUDING HOUSES
- The trend estimate for private sector dwellings excluding houses rose 0.8% in March after falling for 14 months.
- The seasonally adjusted estimate for private sector dwellings excluding houses rose 15.5% in March following a fall of 17.3% in the previous month.
VALUE OF BUILDING APPROVED
- The trend estimate of the value of total building approved fell 0.1% in March and has fallen for 15 months. The value of residential building rose 0.9% after falling for 16 months. The value of non-residential building fell 1.6% and has fallen for 8 months.
- The seasonally adjusted estimate of the value of total building approved fell 8.9% in March and has fallen for 2 months. The value of residential building rose 1.3% while the value of non-residential building fell 23.4%.
