Turf Queensland delivers high value events and programs designed to strengthen professionalism, build resilience, and accelerate the adoption of best practice across the turf industry. Our workshops, field days, roadshows, and socials connect growers, researchers, government, and suppliers, delivering practical skills, accredited programs, and opportunities to network and learn from industry leaders.

2025 Roadshow — Cairns

Building Capability, Safety & Wellbeing in Far North Queensland

The Cairns Roadshow offered a full day of workshops and a farm tour to strengthen leadership, operational efficiency, safety culture, and personal wellbeing among turf producers.

Workshops & Sessions in Cairns:

  • Conflict Management Strategies – Delivered by The Conflict Management Academy. Practical approaches to resolving workplace disputes and improving team culture.
  • Industrial Relations Updates for Growers – Presented by IRiQ Law, covering key legislative changes and compliance requirements critical to turf businesses.
  • Practical Support Program Insights – IPAM Advisors shared tools and strategies to improve financial resilience and access support programs.
  • WorkSafe Queensland: Cultivating a Strong Safety Culture – Guidance on building robust safety systems and embedding safety into everyday operations.
  • Mindfulness for Growers – Lauren Joy Wilson led a session on stress management and mental fitness to support resilience in business and life.
  • Farm Tour – Tropical Lawns – The Anderlini family shared lessons on succession planning and running a multi-generational turf business.

These workshops equipped growers with practical tools to improve people management, safety, leadership, and personal wellbeing.

Go Turf Field Day — 24th September 2024

Hands-On Learning & Innovation at One of Queensland’s Leading Turf Farms

The Go Turf Field Day provided an in-depth, practical experience showcasing innovation, sustainability, and best practice in turf production. Growers had the opportunity to explore new technologies, farm systems, and research-based insights that could be applied directly to their operations.

Sessions & Highlights:

  • Trimax Mowers Demonstration – Attendees observed the in-cab height adjustment system in action, which allowed mower cut heights to be adjusted in precise 1mm increments within seconds. This technology improved efficiency, reduced pest and disease risk, and demonstrated modern approaches to turf management.
  • Swarm Farm Robotics Demonstration – Growers saw autonomous robotics in operation, reducing labour requirements while delivering precise, consistent mowing.
  • Soil Health & Fertility Management Presentation – Best practices for soil testing, amendments, and improving soil productivity were shared by industry experts.
  • Understanding & Managing Turf Ecosystems – The session covered soil chemistry, biology, and carbon management, helping growers adopt more sustainable and profitable practices.
  • Calcium Silicates in Turf Production – Growers learned how Calcium Silicate had been applied to crusting soils to improve germination, enhance soil structure, and reduce watering needs, delivering both environmental and economic benefits.

Industry Social — The Oaks, Caloundra

After the field day, attendees joined an industry social at The Oaks, Caloundra, where the national RIFA team provided updates on the eradication program. This informal session allowed growers to discuss biosecurity challenges, share experiences, and strengthen industry connections.

Annual Industry Social — October

Each October, Turf Queensland hosts its annual industry social, bringing together around 60 growers, industry partners, and stakeholders for a night of fun, networking, and celebration. This event strengthens relationships across the industry, fosters collaboration, and recognises achievements within the turf sector.

Turf Queensland uses events to support producers with Turf360, Australia’s leading best-practice platform and the home of Australia’s first third-party audited RIFA Accreditation Program. Workshops and field days provide guidance on completing modules, preparing for audits, and embedding biosecurity, environmental, and quality systems on-farm.
