Turf QLD Industry Alert |“GETTING BACK for GETTING BETTER”
“GETTING BACK for GETTING BETTER”
The Queensland Government has launched a major awareness campaign to address return to work rates in Queensland. The Getting Back campaign will build awareness of the health benefits of early return to work, and the importance of good communication between injured workers, employers and health professionals to achieve this.
They have asked Turf Queensland to support this initiative through awareness and education of our industry.
Being off work for long periods of time can significantly reduce the likelihood of an injured worker ever returning to work and this can have a negative effect on the worker and their family.
Did you know If a person is off work for even 20 days, the chance of ever getting back to work drops to 70 per cent. If time off extends to 70 days, the chance of ever getting back to work is as little as 35 per cent. This is then reflected in your WorkCover payments.
The advertisements encourage injured workers, employers and medical professionals to embrace strategies and practices to get more injured workers to recover at work, or if they are absent from the workplace, to return to work as soon as they are certified functionally capable.
The campaign features on television, radio, online and billboard advertising with the main message, ‘There’s nothing like getting back for getting better’. The campaign is supported by online and printed resources for workers, employers and medical professionals, which are available at worksafe.qld.gov.au/gettingback.
Considerable content and digital resources are available on the following website: worksafe.qld.gov.au/gettingback
