CURRENT PRICES
- The trend estimate rose 0.3% in April 2012. This follows a rise of 0.3% in March 2012 and a rise of 0.3% in February 2012.
- The seasonally adjusted estimate fell 0.2% in April 2012. This follows a rise of 1.1% in March 2012 and a rise of 0.2% February 2012.
- In trend terms, Australian turnover rose 3.1% in April 2012 compared with April 2011.
- The following industries rose in trend terms in April 2012: Food retailing (0.4%), Cafes, restaurants and takeaway food services (1.0%), Other retailing (0.5%), Clothing, footwear and personal accessory retailing (0.3%) and Department stores (0.3%). Household goods retailing (-0.4%) fell in trend terms in April 2012.
- The following states and territories rose in trend terms in April 2012: Queensland (0.6%), Western Australia (0.7%), New South Wales (0.2%), South Australia (0.3%), the Australian Capital Territory (0.8%), Tasmania (0.1%) and the Northern Territory (0.2%). Victoria (0.0%) was relatively unchanged in trend terms in April 2012.
