A major change for DAFF this month has been its change in minister with the appointment of Hon Joel Fitzgibbon MP.

Minister Fitzgibbon, who grew up in regional Australia, is the member for Hunter in New South Wales – a strong agricultural centre.

The minister said he was keenly aware of the vital role of farmers to rural and regional communities and

the importance of safeguarding Australia and its biosecurity integrity.

“I am looking forward to engaging with industry and stakeholders and deepening my understanding of the diverse views in the sector,” Minister Fitzgibbon said.

“I will continue on with the Australian Government’s plan for agriculture.”
