Ride ready – new quad bike safety campaign
The Queensland Government has launched the Ride ready campaign – to keep quad bike riders safe.
Quad bikes are the biggest killer on Australian farms, claiming 230 lives in the last 15 years.
In Queensland more than 70 people have lost their lives and thousands more injured while using quad bikes.
The Ride ready campaign includes advertising, quad bike safety films, resources and a rider challenge.
Ride ready messages
The Ride ready messages are simple and aim to reduce quad bike death and injury rates in farmers, kids, recreational riders and adventure tourists:
Wear a helmet – Around one in five quad bike incidents result in a head injury.
Don’t overload – Quad bike rollovers thrive on slopes under a heavy load.
Kids on bikes – Around 20 per cent of quad bike deaths are kids under the age of 16.
Rider training – Quad bikes have their limits – that’s why rider training is important.
Don’t double – Sharing the seat can make a quad bike hard to handle.
