MARCH 2013 KEY POINTS
CHAIN VOLUME ESTIMATES
- The trend estimate for inventories rose 0.1% in the March quarter 2013. The seasonally adjusted estimate fell 0.6% this quarter.
- The trend estimate for Manufacturing sales of goods and services fell 0.3% this quarter. The seasonally adjusted estimate fell 1.2%.
- The trend estimate for Wholesale trade sales of goods and services fell 0.4% this quarter. The seasonally adjusted estimate fell 2.5%.
CURRENT PRICE ESTIMATES
- The seasonally adjusted estimate for company gross operating profits rose 3.0% in the March quarter 2013.
- The seasonally adjusted estimate for wages and salaries rose 0.4% in the March quarter 2013

APRIL 2013 KEY POINTS
CURRENT PRICES
- The trend estimate rose 0.4% in April 2013. This follows a rise of 0.4% in March 2013 and a rise of 0.4% in February 2013.
- The seasonally adjusted estimate rose 0.2% in April 2013. This follows a fall of 0.4% in March 2013 and a rise of 1.3% in February 2013.
- In trend terms, Australian turnover rose 3.2% in April 2013 compared with April 2012.
- The following industries rose in trend terms in April 2013: Food retailing (0.6%), Cafes, restaurants and takeaway food services (0.5%), Household goods retailing (0.4%) and Other retailing (0.4%). Department stores (0.0%) was relatively unchanged and Clothing, footwear and personal accessory retailing (-0.2%) fell in trend terms in April 2013.
- The following states and territories rose in trend terms in April 2013: New South Wales (0.6%), Victoria (0.4%), Queensland (0.4%), the Australian Capital Territory (0.9%), Western Australia (0.1%), South Australia (0.1%) and Tasmania (0.1%). The Northern Territory (-0.3%) fell in trend terms in April 2013.
