Fire ant industry training session – Gold Coast

 

 

 

 

You’re invited to fire ant awareness training at the Gold Coast

Due to growing interest in the area, we will be hosting a one-off awareness training session on February 8

at the Gold Coast. Please share this email with your contractors and networks who work with the

following materials:

  • Soil
  • Turf
  • Pot plants/potting media
  • Mulch
  • Quarry materials
  • Mining products
  • Animal manure
  • Baled hay or straw

This is your chance to update your personnel about fire ants legislative requirements (which came into

effect on 1st July, 2016) and how these changes affect your operations. All future fire ant training will require

your staff to travel to our Richlands depot in Brisbane. (Consideration will be given to onsite training

bookings for a minimum of 25 attendees.)

Fire Ant Presentation

As part of the National Red Imported Fire Ant Eradication program, Biosecurity Queensland is conducting a Fire Ant Industry training session for businesses that operate within a fire ant Biosecurity zone.

As part of our training you will:

 

 

  • See live fire ants
  • Learn how to identify fire ants and report sightings
  • Learn about their impacts and how we eradicate them we eradicate them
  • Understand changes to legislation (BioAct2014 and the 2016 regulations) and what this means for you
  • Understand restricted movement controls to prevent the spread of fire ants
  • Learn how you can participate in the eradication program
